How do I become a mystery shopper?

To become a mystery shopper with Helion Research, sign up for free, complete your profile and payment details, and apply for assignments on the Job Board. You need to be 18 or older and have internet access. No experience is needed: every assignment comes with instructions and training.

Requirements

• Aged 18 or older.
• Internet access, to apply for assignments and submit reports.
• A valid driving licence for some projects, such as car dealership visits.
• Reliable, observant and able to write clear reports.
• No experience or qualifications needed. Joining is free.

Step by step

1. Sign up for free on our shopper platform.
2. Complete your profile. We use your details and location to match you with assignments that fit your profile and area. Add your payment details under My Profile → More, so you can be paid. Depending on your country, you are paid by bank transfer (IBAN), PayPal or Skrill.
3. Apply on the Job Board. Click Apply on an assignment and select a date. The assignment then appears under My Applications.
4. Get selected. If you are chosen, you receive a confirmation email and the assignment appears under My Jobs. You only hear from your Panel Manager if you are selected.
5. Prepare. In My Jobs, click Go to, read the instructions carefully and complete the short certification quiz. You need 100% to unlock the survey, and you can retake the quiz.
6. Do the assignment and report. Follow the instructions, act naturally, then submit the online survey. You are paid around the 20th of the month after your visit.

Tips to get your first assignment

• Fill out your profile completely. The more information you give, the more assignments you can be matched to.
• Check the Job Board regularly and subscribe to our emails. We work per project, so assignments appear when a project starts in your area.
• Be flexible with dates. In big cities, several shoppers often apply for the same location.
• Download the Helion mobile app to follow assignments on your phone.
